Armed Woman Surrenders Peacefully After Standoff With Wilmington Police, SWAT Team

The 67-year-old woman was armed with a rifle had barricaded herself in a Houghton Road house.

WILMINGTON, MA -- The Northeastern Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council SWAT Team was called to Wilmington Saturday morning after a 67-year-old woman barricaded herself in a Houghton Road house. The woman was armed with a rifle, according to a statement by Wilmington Police.

Wilmington Police were called to the scene at about 10:30 am. The SWAT team and negotiators were able to convince the woman, who was armed with a rifle, to surrender peacefully.

The woman was transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital for treatment. No charges are expected to be filed at this time, the statement said.
