Boys Hoops Plans Pair of Upcoming Fundraising Events
Alumni game and youth tournament on the docket.

The may not officially take the court for a few weeks, but there will be basketball on the hardwood sooner than that.
Wilmington boys basketball hosts a pair of events in upcoming days aimed to raise money that will go to fund the end of season banquet, senior awards and other awards handed out at year’s end. Money will also go towards t-shirts and warm up outfits for players.
On Friday, Nov. 18, the team hosts the annual alumni game at 6 p.m. The cost to play in the game is $25 and participants can e-mail WHSHOOP@gmail.com to confirm their participation.

Then, on Saturday, Nov. 19, the high school hosts the first annual 3-on-3 Wildcat Turkey shootout. The double elimination tournament features boys and girls divisions for third through eighth graders, and will be officiated by Wilmington High School players and coaches.
The entry fee is $30 and local businesses or organizations can be basket sponsors with signage under the hoop by making a donation to Friends of WHS Basketball.

“The goal for our alumni game is to create alumni interest in our program and to create a link between our players and our alumni,” said current WHS head coach Joe Maiella. “Every player who goes through our program is always a ‘Wildcat.’”
