Relay For Life announces the Entertainment and Activities for the 2013 main event! Get a sneak peak at what you'll see at Relay For Life this year.

Relay For Life of Wilmington has announced the entertainment schedule for this year’s event. Relay will be held June 14th 5:30 pm at the Shawsheen Valley Technical high School. Long time supporters of this annual happening are returning with better-than-ever plans for their time on “stage.”
After the opening ceremonies, the entertainment begins mid field with a performance by Wilmington Dance Academy. At 6:30 pm, dancers of various ages will perform to a variety of music sure to delight all who attend. The costumes, the flowing movements, and the smiles on their faces fill the air with energy and serve as a perfect prelude to the rest of the fun-filled family celebration.

Next for those who have wanted to try Salsa dancing, dance instructor Jennifer Earls, gives you the chance to dance like they do on "So You Think You Can Dance" and "Dancing with the Stars." No partner or dance experience is needed. As a cancer survivor herself, Earls has found that Salsa and dance in general are beautiful ways to live in the present moment and to celebrate life. She hopes you'll join her for this fun experience.

As the others on schedule, the Jessica Prouty Band will be playing their fifth Relay For Life in Wilmington. From 9:30 to 11 pm, they will perform songs that range from current hits to covers of 70s rock to original music. This hard-hitting female-fronted group started in 2009 when they were all in high school. Guitarist Cody Nilsen, attended Wilmington High. The band has played all over New England, including the Lowell Auditorium for the New England Music Awards. What’s more, they played Downtown Disney after winning a battle of the bands contest. They just released their single, Set Me Free, and their new CD is coming out later this year. After the Relay For Life, you can look for them at the Hampton Beach Seashell and at fairs around New England.
Another group to look for at Relay is Two Cousins DJ & Karaoke. This year they plan on having Karaoke for your fun and entertainment and will be playing music at different times of the event. Two Cousins has supported the Relay For Life since the beginning and we’ve very excited to welcome them back again this year.
Wilmington resident and professional stand-up comedian, Steve Bjork will bring some of the finest comics in Boston to perform at 11:30 p.m. This entertainment for the teams spending the night has become one of the most popular events of the Wilmington Relay. These people share their talent and time for the fund raising cause, but they also love what they do, and it shows. Their energy is contagious. Laughter fills the night air. The performance is suitable for all ages, and it never fails to be fun for all.
In addition to the formal entertainment, there is a constant buzz of activity including but not limited to the Relay Fun Zone (open for more hours this year with new activities), and a new and improved more competitive late night Relay Races! Please join the community to celebrate, remember, and fight back against cancer. Relay is a heart warming and fun-filled experience. Teams of people camp out at the high school and take turns walking around the track. Music, costumes and decorations set the mood. Each team has a representative on the track at all times during the event because cancer never sleeps. Children’s activities and, of course, food are also part of the celebration. It’s open to the public until 11 pm so whether you have a team or just want to come for the festivities, please join the fight against cancer.
