'Seussical the Musical' Was Great on Many Levels

The WMS Drama Club is more than just singing and acting.

I would like to take this opportunity to say what a GREAT job the Wilmington Middle School Drama Club did at putting on their production of “Seussical the Musical” at the WMS this past weekend. The show was so professional and our young local talent is truly amazing! Ms. Kole and Ms. Olson should be congratulated for all their hard work and dedication to bringing the show to life.

But the real story is that it was much more than just creating an entertaining show. It was about students working together as a team to reach a common goal. I witnessed this firsthand during a rehearsal one day when I walked into the auditorium a little early to pick up my daughter. I was very impressed to see dozens of students working on different tasks, some practicing their lines, others helping each other to prepare set pieces, while still others were helping with various technical aspects of the show. They are all learning important life lessons that you can’t get from just being in class or taking a test. Students of all abilities in all three grades came together and helped each other to get the job done. New skills were learned and new friendships were made. And they loved doing it! What more could you ask of your kids, or of your school? I can’t wait to see what great show they put on next year. Keep up the good work!
