Sons Of Italy Donate $2700.00

On Friday  June  15  the  Wilmington  Sons  Of Italy, Made a presentation to  the  Relay  For life of a Check for $1200.00, The  Wilmington lodge also  sponsored  15 walkers for an additional  $1500.00 for a total  of 2700.00.

The  initial  $1200.00 was the  proceeds from the  organization  annual  Easter Bunny Breakfast  the was held  on Palm Sunday, The  Breakfast is an  annual  fund raising  event that provides donations  to  both the   Relay for life and Alzheimer's  research.

The  Sons of Italy is a national  organization, whose  members  besides  actively taking  pride in their  Italian heritag, do many philanthropic  works, such as contributions  to  Alzheimer's  Research, Relay  for Life, Thalassemia ( Formally called Cooley's Anemia, an Illness that was predominate among the  people  from the  Mediterranean  area of Europe, such as Italy , Greece  etc and was for many years  a cause of childhood  deaths.), The Sons  also  provides  scholarships  to  high  school students . The  Wilmington  Lodge has  been  very active for many years  in the  Wilmington Community, donating to  many town  needs  such  as  new uniforms for the  various  high school sports, new score boards, construction of parks,  PTO  fundraisers, Relay for Life,   Alzheimer Research ,and many other  charities in the  town. The  Wilmington  Lodge also provide  Scholorships  to  both  seniors entering  college and  graduate  students.

This  donation marks the  9th  year that the  Sons Of Italy have been  actively participating  in the  Relay  For  Life
