Sunday 3/3/13 at high noon the Wildcats tipped off against Pelham in the Playoff Final. The game started like you would expect with a lot of intensity. The Wildcats were getting contributions from all of their players. With about 11 minutes played the Wildcats had held Pelham to just 2 points, and a lead of 18-2. Pelham tried to claw their way back in , finishing the half on an 11-8 run and a score of 26-13. In the 2nd. half, the lead would grow to 34-17, before the Wildcats would go thru their only cold spell of the day. With just over 3 minutes to play in the game , Coach Vega would have to take a timeout. The lead had dwindled to 5, 42-37 The Wildcats would respond with a 13-3 run to finish off the game. Defensively everyone contributed. Some of the highlights were: Little Joey Rebeiro taking a charge late in the game. Mason Vega blocking one shot after another. Travis Haines with one rebound after another. Billy McEvoy forced to cover guys 6" taller and 30 lbs. heavier, all game long. Leading the way offensively was Matt Amentola with 13 points. Graham Smith and Danny Gracia each with 10. Chris Grecco, Andrew Almeida and Andrew Pearson with 6 each. Kellan Hardy and Joey Rebeiro chipping in with 2 a piece. Saturday's games In their first playoff game the Wildcats beat an improved Chelmsford team 50-35. The Wildcats were led by Graham Smith with 15 pts.. Travis Haines and Andrew Almeida each scored 8. The second game of the day had Wilmington on all cylinders, throttling Dracut 54-27. In the first couple of minutes of play, Mason Vega, Graham Smith and Danny Gracia set the tone by registering 6 blocks, leading their team to a 24-15 first half lead. The Wildcats clamped down even more in the 2nd half holding Dracut to just 12 pts. This was a team victory all the way, with all 11 players scoring points. Leading the way again in the point department was Graham Smith with 16, Danny Gracia with 10, Andrew Pearson and Andrew Almeida with 5 each. Chris Grecco and Billy McEvoy scored 4 points each. Kellan Hardy, Joey Rebeiro, Matt Amentola, Travis Haines and Mason Vega, all chipping in with 2 points apiece.
