Wilmington Relay For Life Seeks Food and Cosmetics Donations To Support Cancer Patients

The Feel Good Collection will collect non-perishable foods to support the Hope Lodge in Boston and cosmetic products to support the Look Good Feel Better programs in our communities. Learn more!

There will be two new drives at the Wilmington Relay For Life on June 14th.  Non-perishable food items will be collected to support the AstraZeneca Hope Lodge in Boston, and cosmetics products will be collected to support Look Good Feel Better programs in the community.  To support their effort we will have donation boxes located at the Congregational Church, St Thomas, and St. Dorothy’s in Wilmington, as well as the Main event in June.

For many people, treatment at Boston medical centers offers the greatest hope of beating cancer. However, the cost of travel, hotels, and meals can make that option very difficult. The AstraZeneca Hope Lodge Center in Boston provides approximately 14,000 nights of free lodging to cancer patients every year.  Food donations will support the kitchen there.

The Look Good Feel Better program is another free service.  Volunteer beauty professionals help women cancer patients improve their appearance and self-image by teaching them hands on beauty techniques to manage the appearance side effects of treatments.  Donated supplies of make-up mirrors, cotton rounds, tissues, Q-tips, make-up sponges, facial cleansing wipes, and hand sanitizer are used at each Look Good Feel Better Program. Look for the Relay boxes at the back of church or at our main event.
