Brewers Draft Wilmington Native Jackson Gillis
Gillis was chosen 403rd overall in the 13th round of the Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft.
WILMINGTON, MA —The Milwaukee Brewers drafted Jackson Gillis of Wilmington Wednesday in the 13th round of the Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft. Gillias, currently a pitcher for Vanderbilt University, was chosen 403rd overall. The left-handed pitcher had a 5.14 ERA in seven relief appearances this season, but sports a mid-nineties fastball.
Gillis lettered in baseball in all four years at Wilmington High School, and also lettered one year in football. At the time of his high school graduation, he was considered the top baseball prospect in Massachusetts.
