Bobcat, Lizard Mean Busy Week For Wilmington Animal Control

See a video of a baby bobcat spotted in Wilmington and learn about a 3.5-foot lizard on the loose.

WILMINGTON, MA -- As if figuring out who dumped dog waste into catch basins wasn't enough to keep Christopher Sullivan busy, Wilmington's animal control officer now has an escaped pet lizard and a baby bobcat that was caught on video to contend with.

Tiggs, a 3.5-foot black and white tegu, was last seen in an outdoor enclosure in the area of Salem and Woburn streets on July 31 between 2:30 and 7:15 p.m, according to a report by 7 News Boston. While tegus are often kept as pets and not considered dangerous, police and the owner are asking anyone who sees Tiggs to not approach the four-year-old lizard. Instead, they should call the the tegu's owners at 857-928-3140.

Then this past weekend, Wilmington resident David Lozzi posted video on social media of a baby bobcat he saw while walking his dog on Boutwell Street.

"I then saw what I thought, from a distance, was a dog standing in the road. It then ran across the street and I saw two smaller dogs chasing it. I thought wow coyotes!" Lozzi wrote in a Facebook post. "Then I got to where they were and looked where they (came) from and saw a baby bobcat!"
