Butters Row Bridge Talk Need Your Input
It is not likely MassDOT will fund a project if the proposed work is opposed by town officials or residents.

WILMINGTON, MA – The Butters Row Bridge will be a main topic of conversation at the upcoming Board of Selectmen's meeting next, and you're input is appreciated. The meeting is Monday, June 12th at 7 p.m. in the Middle School Auditorium, 25 Carter Lane.
Wilmington residents are invited to have a part in the discussion on the long- and short-term for the bride's reconstruction. Police and DPW members will be on hand to answer questions. (Subscribe to Wilmington Patch or like us on Facebook for more local news.)
Butters Row connects Chestnut Street to Main Street (Route 38). The bridge was built in 1920 and reconstructed in 1987, and leads traffic over the MBTA Commuter Rail tracks. It is MassDOT owned and maintained.

The travel surface width is 13.5 feet, wide enough for only one vehicle to pass at a time, according to a post by the town. There is two-way traffic despite the narrow way. Convex mirrors are at each end so drivers can see traffic.
The town says MassDOT will likely not fund the project if the town/residents are opposed.

Right now the bridge, though it has been determined safe for travel, has been subject to some deterioration. The bridge will be inspected once a year.
