Counseling Available Following Wilmington Drowning
Wilmington Public Safety will offer support services families, community members and first responders impacted by Wednesday's drowning.

WILMINGTON, MA -- Counselors will be available Thursday night and Tuesday in Wilmington following Wednesday night's drowning of a 19-year-old man in Silver Lake. Wilmington Public Safety said counselors will be available from 3:30 to 7 on Thursday and tentatively on Tuesday at the same times for one-on-one private conversations about coping, witnessing a trauma, or how to hold age appropriate conversations with young children. Thursday's session is for bystanders and witnesses, while Tuesday's session is for the community at large.
Services are free and will be available at the Wilmington Public Safety Department at 1 Adelaide Street. For more information, see the notice posted on the Wilmington Police Department Website.
The man was swimming with family and friends at Silver Lake Wednesday when he went under. His body was recovered but efforts to revive him were unsuccessful. The Middlesex District Attorney's office has not released the victim's identity. Foul play is not suspected.
