Dominating Performance Returns Wilmington to North Final

The Wildcats boys hockey team put together its best performance in recent memory, dominating Lincoln-Sudbury for a 6-0 win in the North Division 2 semifinal on Monday night.

Steve Scanlon has been talking for weeks about the need for his Wilmington High School boys hockey team to get scoring from somewhere besides his top line. On Monday night, the Wildcats received their scoring from just about everyone on the roster.

No. 3 Wilmington throttled second-ranked Lincoln-Sudbury, 6-0, in the North Division 2 semifinal thanks to goals from six different skaters. As a result, the defending state champions find themselves preparing for the North final against Danvers.

"Last year we didn't know how far we could make it," said senior Anthony Castellano. "This year, we kind of expect it. That's the goal. That's what we want to do."

Castellano scored the game's first goal on a shot from the blue line that seemed to have eyes. Also cracking the scoreboard were Cam Owens, Billy Falter, Jake Rogers, Dylan DiNatale, and Luke Foley.

With the win, the locals advanced to the bracket final, which is scheduled for Monday, March 11, on the ice of Lowell's Tsongas Center. The time has not yet been determined. With a win, the Wildcats would move on to play for a second consecutive state championship at TD Garden.
