The Wilmington girls basketball team will officially be the last high school team to hit the hardwood inside Lawrence Cushing Memorial Gymasium. But the Lady Wildcats won't be the last players to hit the floor. On Tuesday, the Wildcat Athletic Alumni and Friends will host a fundraiser to support the purchase of new banners for the gymnasium that will be built when the current gym is demolished over February vacation. Wakefield visits town for the final game ever at the gym at 7 p.m., and at following the tilt, scheduled for around 9 p.m., Wildcat supporters can pay $10 apiece to play on the court one last time. Teams of six are invited to play in six minute scrimmages that night, with all proceeds going towards the purchase of the banners.
