Strong first half paces locals to rematch versus Belmont.

The locals finished the regular season with a string of strong performances to earn the No. 6 seed in the North Division 2 postseason. On Thursday in the first round against Marblehead, that trend continued with a 3-1 win.
Senior captain Ryanne Newhouse opened the scoring when she found the back of the net at the 10:01 mark of the first half on an assist from Cristina Wilson. Just under two minutes later, Wilson notched a tally of her own, this one off of an assist from Shelley Sullivan.

With just 2:23 to play in the opening frame, Amanda Richards slid the ball underneath Marblehead's diving goalie, and took control of the game for the Wildcats.
Thanks to the win, Wilmington earned a rematch with Belmont, which narrowly defeated the Wildcats earlier in the season. The game is slated for Saturday at 3 p.m. in Belmont.
