Five Things You Need to Know About Town Meeting

1. Though the school project passed at the ballot box, your job isn't done yet. Special Town Meeting is on the docket for Saturday, beginning at 10:30 a.m. in the Wilmington High School gym. In order for the town to , it must pass by a two-thirds vote.
2. There is mixed precident in recent history with what could happen with Saturday's vote. narrowly passed at Town Election in 1997, but was approved by a wide margin at Town Meeting. The library, on the other hand, passed at the ballot box but was rejected by voters at Town Meeting.

3. Parents unsure what to do with their children if they hope to vote at the meeting will have an option. Childcare will be available at no cost in the high school. Registration for childcare takes place from 10:15-10:30 a.m. and is for children up to sixth grade.
4. You'll want to get there early. Town Manager Michael Caira expects a crowd of at least 1,000 residents. Per town bylaws, there is no way of knowing when the high school project will be discussed. There are six total articles on the agenda, and they are drawn out of a hat to decide what order they will be debated.
