4-Vehicle Crash Which Closed 93 Leaves 3 Injured

Police said the crash which shut down a chunk of 93 South resulted in serious injuries.

WILMINGTON, MA - A four-vehicle crash in Wilmington which shut down a chunk of I-93 Monday night resulted in serious injuries, State Police said Tuesday morning.

Police say a Honda Fit collided with the rear of a tractor-trailer, causing the Fit to veer right across several lanes and strike a Chevrolet. The Fit bounced back across the lanes toward the median and struck the guardrail.

A woman driving the Fit was transported to Mass. General Hospital with serious life-threatening injuries. Drivers in two other cars also went to hospitals with serious injuries.

Police have not located the tractor-trailer involved.

All lanes in I-93 South were shut down for hours between Exits 38 and 39. They were reopened about 12:15 a.m.
