David Ortiz visits Animal Rescue League Boston.
Technically, David Ortiz was the big celebrite in the house at Animal Rescue League Boston on Tuesday. But there were plenty of people looking to talk with Wilmington Middle School student Josselyn Siegel as well.
The sixth-grader raised $100 over the summer making and selling clay figures, and when she was done she donated the money to the ARL.
Recently the shelter learned it had been selected to receive a visit from the Boston Red Sox free agent slugger, and Siegel was one of the guests she wanted in attendance.

So Siegel had the opportunity to meet Ortiz, get photos taken with him and snag a few autographs. But one of the best moments of the day came when Siegel asked Ortiz to sign her cast, which he gladly did. She also presented him with a ceramic figure.
Later in the afternoon, Siegel told Ortiz that she hurt her foot doing karate. "Whoa!," he joked. "This is the karate girl!"

Many of the ARL workers were thrilled to meet Siegel, and they got a first hand look at her work.
In addition to Siegel, there were also other Wilmington residents represented at the event. Animal Care and Adoption Agent Amy Webb, 24, and State Animal Humane Officer Dianne Begonis were among the locals in town for the event.
