Kayak and Stand Up Paddleboard Offered Instruction on Long Pond in Tewksbury

Day time programs are geared toward Seniors, SAHMs and home schoolers. Open to residents of all communities.

Due to its popularity, the Town of Tewksbury, in conjunction with Still River Outfitters, is pleased to offer kayak and stand up paddleboard instruction again on Long Pond in Tewksbury. Get out and use the fine water resources in town. New morning offerings are ideal for Seniors, Home Schoolers and Stay at Home parents.

Long Pond is a 10 acre surface pond located at the intersection of Whipple Road and Pleasant Street.

Courses are open to residents from surrounding communities. All equipment and flotation is included.

Stand-up Paddleboarding is just rocketing in popularity.Many describe the feeling as walking on water. The best way to describe it is to imagine using a long canoe paddle to paddle a surf-board. Of course, the best way to really understand is to take a class. You

can creep along the side of a pond with a great look at the fish below or use it as a super core workout (quit the gym and buy a board!).

SUP is just super fun! Intro to SUP is the perfect way to give the sport a try. We’ll cover all the essential skills you’ll need to get started

for enjoying the sport on calm water.

Quick Start Your Kayak, Oct. 2

Paddling a kayak is great fun-from a leisurely paddle to wind down to a great core workout.Quick Start is a brief, three hour introduction to paddling a kayak properly.Students are presented with basic information on terminology, dressing, paddle safety,

potential hazards and simple rescues. A minimal paddle skill set is presented and practiced, allowing students to safely and comfortably maneuver on still water.
