LaPointe Named Interim Principal at Woburn Street and Wildwood Schools
Former administrator recently stepped down for personal reasons.
Wilmington Superintendent of Schools Joanne Benton recent appointed an Interim Principal for the and schools, informing parents in a letter that the previous principal resigned for personal reasons.
According to Benton, former principal Joel Sanderson expressed interest in exploring other career opportunities in the fall and said that the position “is just not for him.”
Elementary Language Arts Specialist and Title I Coordinator Jerry LaPointe was named Interim Principal effective at the beginning of March. It’s a position LaPointe has served in the past, which gives Benton confidence in the leader the schools have for the remainder of the year.

“Mr. LaPointe is one of the most talented educators I have come across in my thirty years in education,” said Benton in a letter to parents. “His level of professionalism, commitment, quality and leadership are unsurpassed. I have every confidence that he, along with Assistant Principal Lisa King and Wildwood Head Teacher Erin Healy, will be able to take the helm and continue the great work going on at both schools.”
