Little Leaguers Hit the Diamond at Jamboree
Wilmington's 7- and 8-year-old players get their first chance to play at Rotary Park
After what seemed like an endless stretch of rain and foul weather, the sun finally came out on Sunday and Wilmington Little Leaguers took to the field.
This time, however, it was Wilmington’s 7- and 8-year-old players who had their turn to play at Rotary Park for the 3rd annual Little League’s Farm and Rookie League Jamboree.
The event, which Little League President Rick Hill referred to as, “the highlight of the Farm and Rookie baseball season,” ran from 9:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and, thanks to a little cooperation from Mother Nature, was a huge success.

Each game lasted an hour and teams batted through their entire batting order regardless of run and outs. For these young players the chance to listen to the National Anthem, hear their name announced and take the plate at Rotary Park was, without a doubt, a memory that they will carry for a long time.
