Man Arrested After Fleeing Wilmington Police During Traffic Stop

WILMINGTON, MA -- Wilmington Police arrested a North Reading man on multiple charges, including his third offense for drunken driving, after he fled a traffic stop Friday night. Daniel James Hannan, 28, of 77 Haverhill Street in North Reading, was charged with UI-Liquor (third offense), failure to stop for police, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, operating with a suspended license (subsequent offense), speeding, marked lane violation and open alcohol container.

According to the Wilmington Police log, Hannan failed to stop for a police detail on Salem Street at 10:33 pm Friday. He was pulled over, but as the detail officer called for backup, Hannan allegedly took off towards Tewksbury. Police began searching for the white, Chevy SUV Hannan was allegedly driving and sent out alerts to the Massachusetts State Police, as well as police in Tewksbury, Billerica, North Reading and Chelmsford.

State Police pursued the suspect on foot near Keyes Road in Billerica. The suspect was eventually captured with a Billerica canine unit between Georgiana and Eastgate Roads in Billerica. A short time later, police caught a second suspect, who was not identified in the Wilmington Police log, near Andover Road in Billerica.

Hannan and the passenger were released on bail on Saturday morning.

  • At 11:40 am on Friday police responded to a report of a man and woman in a car behind a building on Waltham Street. Wilmington Police issued a summons to Christina M. Landry, 29, of 22 Easement Road in Tewksbury, for possession of a class A drug and Matthew B. Pariseau, 34, of 195 Fox Hill Road Extension in Tewksbury, for possession of a class A drug and operating a motor vehicle with a revoked or suspended license.
  • At 3:12 am Monday, a car that police in Tewksbury had been looking for was seen on Main Street in Wilmington. Tewksbury Police reported that the driver may be intoxicated. Wilmington Police stopped the vehicle and arrested Nicolas W. Poirier, 21, of 188 Channing Road in Belmont, and charged him with OUI - Liquor.
