WILMINGTON, MA — Wilmington voters head to the polls Saturday to vote for three selectmen's seats, including a six-way race for two seats that are up for reelection and a three-way race for the unexpired vacant seat on the board. Patch regularly publishes letters to the editor on a wide range of topics, including local elections. The following letters were submitted in recent days.

Maselli Is The Boss Everyone Wants

My name is Maura Sullivan, an employee and family friend of Mark Maselli. I am writing to you on behalf of his candidacy. I am writing this letter to inform voters about the wonderful qualities that Mark puts forth not only in the workplace, but on an everyday basis.

Mark has a passion for what he does. He is the owner of Dandilyons Ice Cream in Reading, MA. I have been an employee of his for over a year now, and I can say with great confidence that he is the boss that everybody wants. The countless times that I have messed up an order or forgotten how to make something, I have always known that Mark is there to help me learn. He is kind, funny, and makes scooping ice cream the best job to have. Mark has always shown our customers that he cares about them and their personal lives, and he has never had a problem taking a minute or two to catch up with them at the window. Mark has given Dandilyons such a great reputation and has made people feel at home when they are there. Most importantly, as an employee, I have always felt cared for by Mark. When you’re having a bad day, he’s there to make everybody smile. He helps me fix my mistakes and learn from them. If I am going to be late to work, Mark understands. He treats people the way that they want to be treated.

Above all, just like he does at Dandilyons, Mark makes choices that are for the benefit of everybody, and I know that as Selectman, Mark would do the same exact thing. Mark is a fresh voice to the town which is exactly what it needs. A new perspective, and a new way of running things. If anything, I want to tell voters that Mark is the type of person that you would be proud to have your town associated with. He is what a Selectman should be.

To all Wilmington residents, April 27th is the day to express your right to vote. So, get out there, and vote for somebody who is really going to make Wilmington a place that you would be proud to call your hometown. Mark has my full support, and I hope that he will have yours, too.

After 20 Years, She Knows Maselli Well

It is with great pride that I write in support of my husband, Mark Maselli, for the office of Selectman. It has been my pleasure to help him out in this positive and energetic campaign, as he has a strong desire to bring open-minded and insightful viewpoints to the Wilmington Board of Selectmen.

In the over 20 years I have know Mark, he has always been an honest and humble guy. Always willing to help anyone out, offer advice and lend a hand. He has always been a supporter of our children’s activities as a coach, volunteer, and mentor. The kids that work at our business have become an extension of our family due to the fact that Mark is a great boss and mentors them all. I have no doubt that these kids will someday tell their kids about their ‘old boss Mark’.

Mark has followed the politics and happenings in town closely, he always has. For many years I have been telling him that if he didn’t like it he should do something about it - I guess he got sick of hearing that from me! I have been a keen observer of the current environment of our town’s politics and agree that there are issues our town needs to tackle, but this is a great town. That is why Mark is running. To make sure Wilmington continues in the right direction and stays the town we know it to be. If elected, Mark will be a voice that transcends generations. One that will pose the right questions and fight for the right answers to the issues at hand. He is running because he wants to make a difference. Not because others can’t but because he knows he can.

I hope you will consider voting for Mark on election day this Saturday, April 27th. Win or lose, I am very proud of the way he has run his campaign and represented himself. What you see is what you get and with Mark, that is an honest, passionate, hard working guy who fights for what is right and gets things done.

Sincerely,
Lilia Maselli
