Michael's Place Has a New Owner

After 31 years, Michael McCoy has sold his restaurant.

After more than 30 years under the same ownership, Michael’s Place in Wilmington has a new owner.

Owner Michael McCoy may have sold his business to a new owner, but Michael’s Place will retain the same name, menu and employees in the sale, McCoy told the Lowell Sun.

Last week, the Board of Selectmen approved a common victualer license for Michael’s Place to Beesa Ram, which was the first time many in town heard about Michael’s being sold.

Michael’s Place is located at 110 Lowell St. in Wilmington.

Selling was not something McCoy had planned. McCoy told the Wilmington Town Crier it all happened by chance over the past few weeks. He also told the paper while he is selling the business, he’s not selling the land.

McCoy spoke to Wilmington Apple about the sale, and said the new owners own several restaurants and they’ve been successful. He said he expects them to bring Michael’s Place to a new level. Read more about what McCoy had to say in that interview.
