Next Year Wilmington's Schools Will Have More Half-Days

School Committee voted to add three additional early release days to the 2020-2021 calendar.

WILMINGTON, MA — Wilmington Public Schools will have nine half-days in the 2020-2021 school year, bringing up the total by three. The School Committee voted at their Feb. 26 meeting to approve the calendar with the three extra early release days. The Committee voted four to one for the calendar.

Committee Member Jay Samaha voted against the calendar out of concern for transportation and child-care issues, the Town Crier reported.

"I see this as an interim measure," Superintendent Glenn Brand said. "Full professional development days are best."
