Obituary: Christopher Murphy, 24

Murphy, of Wilmington, died Thursday, Aug. 14, from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident.

Christopher J. Murphy, 24, of Wilmington, died suddenly on Thursday, Aug. 14, from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident. Born in Stoneham, he was the cherished son of Joseph R. and Carolyn A. (Knowles) Murphy of Wilmington.

Christopher was raised in Wilmington where he attended elementary school and as a young boy was very active in Wilmington youth sports, participating in Pop Warner Football and Little League Baseball for many years. Christopher enjoyed working in the restaurant industry and was most recently employed at the Del Frisco’s Grille in Burlington where he worked as a waiter. Prior to his current employment, he also worked at the Capital Grille for a period of time.

Christopher was passionate about music. He loved listening to music, writing his own music and spending many hours in the studio recording his music. He enjoyed hanging out with his friends, spending time at the beach and most of all being with his family, whether making lasting memories on the many family vacations throughout the years or any time they could just be together and enjoy each other’s company.

In addition to his beloved parents, Christopher is survived by his loving brother, Kevin Murphy, and loving sister, Courtney Murphy, both of Wilmington. He was the loving grandson of James and Ann Knowles of Salisbury, Margaret Murphy of Medford and the late Joseph Murphy. He was the nephew of Fred Murphy and his wife Carol of Derry, New Hampshire, Maryanne Barton and her husband John of Wakefield, Frank Murphy and his wife Colleen, John Murphy and his wife Nancy, all of Melrose, Kathy Knowles of East Boston, Tracy Giarla and her husband Mark of Salem, James Knowles of Stoneham and Awen Knowles and her partner Joseph Proia of Albany, New York. He is also survived by many loving cousins, his close friend Jessi Nolan of Wilmington and many more dear friends.

Funeral services will be held from the McLaughlin-Dello Russo Funeral Home, 60 Pleasant St., Woburn, Tuesday, Aug. 19, at 9:30 a.m. followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Theresa of Lisieux Church, 63 Winter St., North Reading, at 10:30 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours at the McLaughlin-Dello Russo Funeral Home will be held on Monday from 4-8 p.m. Services will conclude with burial at Puritan Lawn Memorial Park in Peabody.
