Off the Record: Boys Lacrosse Concludes Successful Season Despite Sub-.500 Mark

Wildcats finish home slate with loss to Woburn, but coach still impressed with team's progress.

Wilmington High School boys lacrosse head coach Mike Fay struggled to come up with his team's record off the top of his head following an 8-6 defeat at the hands of Woburn. He was more focused on the bigger picture.

"We are now five and everything else," said Fay, whose team concluded its regular season and fell short of a postseason appearance. "I'm not not too concerned about that part of it."

The Wildcats' win total is the highest in program history, and the team showed throughout the season it could compete against top teams.

Against Woburn, Fay's charges led, 2-1, at halftime before the Tanners dictated tempo in the second half and pulled away. Still, the Wildcats continued to chip away until the final horn.

The Tanners improved to 11-7 on the season, qualified for the playoffs for the first time in school history.
