No official word, but rumor is the town could be losing one of its local businesses.

Wilmington has three drug stores within a short span of each other along Main Street: Rite Aid, CVS and Walgreens. And now there’s rumors one of those may be closing.

A source told the Wilmington Town Crier that the Walgreens in Wilmington may be slated for closure. A manager at the Wilmington location told the Town Crier it was not closing, when asked. Early last year Walgreens announced a plan to close more than 70 stores across the country in the second half of 2014 to help optimize the company’s assets. The Walgreens in Reading was one of those locations.
