IMAGE GALLERY: Officer Shawn Lee Laid to Rest

Shawn Lee left a major impact in Wilmington and beyond. That was no more evident than Wednesday when family and friends were joined by many others at the late Wilmington Police Officer's funeral held at and Wildwood Cemetery.

Following the church service, the procession moved to the cemetery, and American flags were presented throughout. Lee was a veteran of the United States Air Force before he fulfilled his dream of joining the .

Police representatives from a variety of towns in the surrounding area were present to pay tribute, along with members of the .

, nearly one year after he was diagnosed with leukemia. , and , even by those who never had to opportunity to meet him.
