Police Log: April 1-8

Police find and destroy evidence of heroin use at Wilmington gas station.

Friday, April 1 –

10:14 a.m. – Caller reports that sometimes between 1:30 p.m. yesterday and 1:45 p.m. yesterday, a purse was stolen from Burling Machine Inc., on Fordham Road. Keys and 10 business checks were also taken from the building.

12:22 a.m. – Sonny’s Mobile on the Run caller reports a small plastic bag with a white substance inside was left by someone at the counter of Dunkin Donuts. Officer returns with a small baggie of possible heroin to be destroyed at the station.

3:06 a.m. – Traffic stop results in the arrest of a Wilmington man for operating under the influence, speeding and negligent operation of a motor vehicle.

5:58 a.m. – Drug paraphernalia found in the trashcan at Sonny’s Mobile on the Run of an unknown substance and hypodermic needles. Returning to station for destruction.

11:27 a.m. – Caller reports smoke coming from the tracks across from Firestone. Mass Bay Commuter Rail was notified and advised of the smoke coming from near the track switch. They have a tech en route.

2:13 p.m. – Shriners Auditorium caller reports larceny of baseball card album valued at between $3,000 and $4,000.

3:17 p.m. – Terwksbury Police request check of the area of the railroad tracks for the report of a loose goat. Message left for animal control. Checked the area, but unable to locate. 

Sunday, April 3 –

5:37 p.m. – Single car motor vehicle crash on Boutwell Street as a car has driven into a tree. The crash was caused by a deer that ran out in front of the vehicle.

5:48 – Boutwell Street caller reports her 14-year-old was chased on her bicycle by a black convertible. There were four girls in the car who were yelling at her. Vehicle last seen heading towards Route 62. About 10 minutes ago the caller rode her bike home and her mom called the station. Officer spoke with the daughter. It appears the car was not chasing her, rather following her.

8:10 p.m. – Caller reports a possible fight in progress at Market Basket on Main Street. About six male youths involved, one on a bike. 

Monday, April 4 –

10:49 a.m. – Officer found hypodermic needle at Country Chef on Main Street. Returned to the station for destruction.

4:01 p.m. – Main Street caller reports youth extremely angry and threatening to kill someone, last seen in the Staples parking lot. Second caller reports the male is now damaging property, also reports the male threatened to harm him. Police checked the area and did not notice any damage.

7:06 p.m. – Caller on Burlington Ave. reports a vehicle drove off the road creating damage to her lawn. Described as a red car last seen heading towards the center. Caller states she found pieces of the vehicle on her lawn along with the license plate. Officer out to make contact with registered owner.

9:18 p.m. – On Main Street, caller believes someone tampered with his gas line today. 

Tuesday, April 5 –

11:27 p.m. – Suspicious activity on Main Street. Female party is walking home from the train station after arguing with a male party. He has returned to his residence and she is walking home. 

Wednesday, April 6 –

8:33 a.m. – Off with a scooter stopped because there were no plates on the scooter and it was being operated down the middle of the road. Party was advised and sent on his way.

10:21 a.m. – Caller reporting within the last hour or more that a man who was staying at her Mass Ave. home stole $100 to $200 cash out of her pocket. He left on foot, possibly heading towards the train station.

10:53 a.m. – Department of Public Works reports damage caused to the snack shack on Main Street. Reporting access was gained, unsure if anything is missing at this time. Photos were taken and DPW on scene to secure the door.

9:36 p.m. – Father requests a well being check on his 12-year-old sons. He states their mother has been drinking and is at the apartment next door. Children are fine, upon arrival mother came out from the apartment next door. She has not been drinking at all. 

Thursday, April 7 –

8:29 p.m. – Caller on Evergreen Drive reports her son was just assaulted by a known man who was last seen fleeing the area on foot towards Tewksbury. The man was summonsed on assault and batter, assault and batter with a dangerous weapon and larceny under $250.

10:01 p.m. – Burt Road caller reports something was thrown through her front window. A dark gray Honday CRV was seen leaving the area headed towards Harris Street. 

Friday, April 8 –

5:32 a.m. – McDonald’s manager called to report that there was a male in a vehicle sleeping in the lot. When the store opened he went in and asked for a coffee and she thought the man might be intoxicated. Vehicle left the lot and went out the Rite Aid parking lot and straight through the lights.
