Police Log: Negligent OUI and Warrant Arrests

The following is an excerpt from the  log from Friday, June 8 to Sunday, June 10.

Friday, June 8

6:22 a.m.: A pair of officers arrived at Fairmeadow Road to attempt to serve a warrant to the resident who lives there. The party fled the home on foot toward Jere Road and a K-9 unit was sent to the area. Tewksbury Police staged two cars near Brown Street and Whipple Road just in case.

10:02 a.m.: On Newbern Ave., a caller reported the carbon monoxide detector or smoke detector was sounding in the oil tank room from the basement. Police advised the resident to have the family step outside and await arrival by the .

4:10 p.m.: A Lowell Street driver said a male party kicked her vehicle and spit on it over the way she had parked.

7:04 p.m.: An argument was reported on Main Street between two occupants of a vehicle. The caller reported that while traveling behind the vehicle, the driver threw a large piece of glass out of his window which then struck the caller's vehicle. There was no damage done to the reporting driver, and the other vehicle continued on Route 38 toward Tewksbury.

Saturday, June 9

12:56 a.m.: Mallory M. DeRosa, 24, of 124A Pond Street in Billerica, was arrested on Lawrence Street for an outstanding warrant.

9:59 a.m.: A 97-year-old Woodbriar Nursing Home resident suffered from a rapid heart rate. Action ALS was notified and responded from Woburn. The woman was transported to Winchester.

10:36 a.m.: Following a traffic stop on Lowell Street, Modesto Nina, 22, of 16 Sargent Apt. #2 in Lawrence, was arrested for operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license and defective equipment. A small amount of marijuana was also confiscated for destruction.

4:42 p.m.: At on Main Street, a caller reported an infant and a toddler were locked inside of a van in the parking lot. The child in the van was older than a toddler, but the mother was still advised about leaving her children unattended in a vehicle.

Sunday, June 10

12:41 a.m.: On High Street, police towed a vehicle and returned with one under arrest. Jamie P. Blaikie-Roche, 20, of 167B Pleasant Street in Tewksbury, was charged with operating under the influence of liquor, negligent operation of a motor vehicle and marked lanes violation.

12:00 p.m.: A South Street caller reported there was a wire across the street from her house that was sparking. The Fire Department and Reading Municipal Light were called to the area.

4:47 p.m.: In front of on Main Street, a motor vehicle crash occurred and a driver with front end damage continued north on Route 38. Following the crash, Robert W. Ritchie, 80, of 16 Laura Road, Tewksbury, was charged with operating under the influence of liquor, leaving the scene of personal injury, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, negligent operating under the influence of liquor with serious injury, possession of an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle and failure to stop or yield.

7:22 p.m.: Gregory J. Peters, 45, of 16 Fairmeadow Road in Wilmington, was arrested for an outstanding warrant.
