POLL: Which Wildcat Will Step Up This Week?

The girls basketball and boys hockey teams have big playoff weeks ahead. Who will be the key player in upcoming days?

Editor's Note: The time for the boys hockey game on Tuesday night has been changed from 7:10 p.m. to 6:10 p.m., though the location remains the same.

It's crunch time for a pair of Wilmington sports teams this week, and the MIAA tournament is when players make a name for themselves.

First on Monday, the at 7 p.m. against Gloucester, hoping to advance into the North Division 2 semifinal.

Then on Tuesday at 7:10 p.m. in Chelmsford, Steve Scanlon's team when they face North Andover in the semifinals.

Both teams feature depth and balance. The Lady Wildcats are led by Middlesex League MVP Emily Crannell, who averages about 17 points per game. But Jen Stewart, Michelle Woods and many other players contribute on a regular basis.

On the ice, Wilmington goalie Drew Foley has been anchoring the team in between the pipes with strong goaltending all season. Offensively, Cam Owens and Jake Rogers are among the host of lethal weapons who can blaze through opponents and put the puck in the net.
