Registration Open For Wilmington Police Departments Citizen Police Academy
The six-session course will be held on Mondays and Thursdays from 6-9 pm beginning November 2.

WILMINGTON, MA -- The Wilmington Police Department received a grant from the Cummings Foundation to offer a Citizen police Academy beginning November 2. The program is open to Wilmington residents and will offer an overview of community policing topics including an introduction to the Wilmington PD, criminal/Constitutional law, the Massachusetts Court System, traffic safety, working as a patrol officer, drugs, scam investigations, and police officer use of force.
"Graduates from the Citizen Police Academy will not only have a better understanding of the operations of the Wilmington Police Department, but they will also have a greater understanding of the daily tasks and challenges that Wilmington Police Officers face each day," the department said in a statement announcing the Citizen Police Academy.

Classes will be held on November 2, 6, 9, 13 and 16 from 6-9 pm and class size is limited to 20 Wilmington residents who will commit to attending all class sessions. Participants must be a Wilmington resident, be at least 21 years old, and have no serious criminal history.
