Reopening Of Butters Row Bridge In Wilmington Delayed

MassDOT needs to make unexpected repairs, meaning the bridge will be closed to traffic until at least December 8

WILMINGTON, MA -- Unexpected repairs to the Butters Row Bridge means the bridge will remain closed at least until December 8. MassDOT officials had originally expected repairs that started October 23 to last three weeks. In a Twitter post, Wilmington Police said additional materials have been ordered to make the repairs.

The original project of the bridge, which spans the MBTA railroad tracks, called for repairing damaged bridge timber deck planks and timber stringers. Work had been scheduled to be completed by November 10.

The bridge connects Butters Row to Route 38. Traffic east of the tracks heading to the west side of the tracks is being directed North on Route 38, turning left on Route 62 west and then turning left onto Chestnut Street South. Traffic on the west side of the tracks heading towards the east side of the tracks follows the same route but in reverse.
