Road Games Aplenty This Week for Wildcats

Wilmington hosts just three home tilts in upcoming days.

Wilmington's varsity teams won't be home much this week, but they will be busy over the upcoming days.

After all Wildcats take advantage of a day off on Monday, the basketball teams are the first to get back to work with a Tuesday doubleheader.

At 5:30 p.m., look to keep their winning streak alive with a road tilt at Watertown. The Lady Wildcats have won seven straight games and sit at 14-2 on the year with a 5-1 league mark, tied for first place in the Middlesex League Small School Division.

Next up on the evening is Joe Maiella's boys team, which hopes to continue . The team has been up and down after the , but remains just three wins away from clinching a playoff spot.

Following a four game losing streak, Wilmington has won two straight games. The team, now 7-8 on the year and 4-2 in a tie atop the league standings, tips off at 7 p.m. in Watertown.

Both hockey teams hit the ice on Wednesday, beginning with the Lady Wildcats who skate in Watertown beginning at 6 p.m.

Steve Scanlon's boys hockey team, , drops the puck against the same opponent at 7:45 p.m.

No teams play on Thursday, but the basketball teams return to the hardwood on Friday night for the first home games of the week.

At 5:30 p.m., the girls team battles Melrose, which is tied for the Middlesex lead and thumped the Wildcats earlier in the season.

Another critical tilt follows at 7 p.m. when the boys team also takes on Melrose, one of three teams with the identical league mark as the Wildcats.

The week wraps up on Saturday as the boys hockey team hosts Melrose at 2:30 p.m. in what should be a special afternoon on the ice. The tilt is the team's Breast Cancer Game as a . The team will also wear special jerseys on the day in honor of breast cancer awareness.

Joe McMahon's girls hockey team is on the road with a 1 p.m. game against Cambridge.

Though the wrestling team battled growing pains this year, Alex Furlong looks to end the season on a high note. Furlong will compete at 192 pounds in the Division III state tournament at Taconic High School.
