Same Result, Different Effort for Girls Tennis
Lady Wildcats fall to Tewksbury, 4-1, for second day despite improved play.
Even if the score remained the same, the effort from the Wilmington girls tennis team was vastly different.
The Wildcats fell, 4-1, on Friday to Tewksbury one day after falling to the Redmen by the same score.
"We may have lost both match to Tewksbury 4-1 but I saw a totally different team yesterday," said head coach Kevin Welch. "They were more focused and they were not making the mistakes they made on Thursday. We don't play again for two weeks, so the girls know we have some work to and I know they will do what they need to do to improve."

Kristen Tavares earned the only Wildcat victory of the day during Friday's match. She toppled Kylie Sedgwick by a score of 6-4, 7-6 (7-3), 6-2. Both doubles matches went three sets as well.
The loss dropped Wilmington to 0-2 early in the campaign, but the Wildcats hope to get in the win column following their extended break.

"My expectations are the same I have every year, and that is to have the girls continue to improve as tennis players," said Welch. "We can not control the teams we play and the players they send out on the courts, but we can continue to learn from the matches we play."
