Scholarship Offered in Honor of Scotty McDougall
Wilmington Youth Lacrosse offers two academic scholarships in memory of late coach.

The Wilmington Youth Lacrosse Association (WYLA) is proud to announce that for the third year in a row, the WYLA will be offering two academic scholarships in memory of Paul “Scotty” McDougall, a coach, friend, and founding member of the Wilmington Youth Lacrosse Association.
These scholarships are worth $1,000 apiece and will be awarded to two graduating seniors in the class of 2011 that will be enrolling in an accredited college or university next fall.

There will be a boys’ and girls’ scholarship offered to former Wilmington Youth Lacrosse players. Scholarship application information can be found on the Wilmington Youth Lacrosse Association website.
When the scholarship program first began, WYLA offered $500 scholarships until Sheila McDougall decided to match the scholarship offers last year to double the value of each scholarship.

The application deadline is May 29, 2012. Awards will be made on the basis of merit, academic performance, and school and/or community service. In order to be eligible for the scholarship, the applicant must meet four initial criteria.
First, they must be a high school graduate in the class of 2012. Second, they must be accepted with the intent to enroll in an accredited two or four-year College or university. Third, they must have played one full year for the Wilmington Youth Lacrosse Association. Lastly, the student must be a resident of Wilmington.
