Schools On Break, But Wildcats Busy This Week

A look at the schedule over the upcoming days.

Wilmington sports teams had a break for the holiday weekend, but they'll be back to work before too long.

Tuesday is a busy day for the Wildcats, as many teams start holiday tournaments.

First, the wrestling team begins action at the Marshfield Holiday Tournament. The grapplers first take to the mat at 9 a.m.

Later in the day, the drops the puck on the Haverill Hockey Christmas Tournament with a 5 p.m. tilt versus North Andover.

It's the Wilmington boys basketball team that plays host to tournament play on Tuesday. At 5:30 p.m., Littleton and Shawsheen Tech tip off the Holiday Tournament before Tewksbury and the Wildcats square off in the 7 p.m. contest.

On Wednesday, the wrestling team continues in Marshfield, and the will either play in the consolation game at 5:30 p.m. or the championship at 7 p.m.

Also in action are the boys and girls track teams on the road against Watertown while the team welcomes Wakefield to town at 8 p.m.

Thursday is the conclusion of the Haverhill Christmas Tournament for the boys hockey team, and depending on Tuesday's result, the Wildcats will either play at 5 or 7 p.m. But the better news is that this will be the first game that standouts Cam Owens and Jake Rogers will be eligible to return to the ice.

Closing out the week and the year is the wrestling team, whcih grapples in a tri-meet against Melrose and Woburn at 10 a.m. on Saturday, which is New Year's Eve.
