Seussical the Musical Opens Three Day Run Tonight
Wilmington Middle School performs musical Thursday, Friday and Saturday after months of hard work.

After months of hard work, curtains open Thursday on the Drama Club’s spring play that promises to provide entertainment for all ages.
The show opens Thursday at 7 p.m., continues Friday at the same time and closes out on Saturday at 2 p.m. Students auditioned in December and have been rehearsing daily since the beginning of January.
“Everyone has put in a ton of work,” said Diana Kole, the play’s director. “Kids will love it, and grown ups will as well. It appeals to every single person, no matter the age.”

Tickets cost $5 and will be sold at the door, but Kole said tickets have been selling fast since they went on sale. The director recommends purchasing tickets in advance for the show.
Despite their young age, the students will be performing the show in its entirety. Kole could have opted for the junior show, but felt confident in the abilities of her students to perform the full version.

Kole said she sees a perennial influx of talent in the school, and she believes it’s because of the relationships within the community.
“The culture that we promote here at the school and the culture in the community, it shows that theater is important and supported,” said Kole. “These students are trying to find their passion and sense of self, and a lot of them are finding it through theater and music.”
There is little to no dialogue during the play, as the entire show is performed in song.
Because of the well-known nature of Dr. Seuss and the play, Kole said the town is excited to fill the seats this weekend.
“Everyone is familiar with the show, so there’s a great buzz for it,” said Kole. “I’m just extremely proud. The kids have put in so much effort and hard work, and it’s really paid off.”
