Over the years has called a number of different buildings home.

At the turn on the century Wilmington High School was located next to what is now the Building on Middlesex Ave. That building, which was built approximately 1888, went on to become The Center Grammar School and was eventually torn down in the 1980’s.

In 1914, another building, which went on to be called the Swain School, was built next to the Center Grammar School.  That building served as the high school until the current building was constructed in 1950.

Over the years The Swain School went on to serve as an annex for the current High School as well as a home to the Wilmington Police Department Detective Division, and The Wilminton Food Pantry.

Eventually The Swain School was also torn down. Today the area where both The Center Grammar School and The Swain School Stood serves a parking lot for both High School Students and visitors to The Fourth Of July Building.

The current High School sits on the opposite side of the common on Church Street. A hot topic in local news these days, Wilmington High School could soon be moving to a new chapter in history as plans continue forward to start construction of a new building.
