Three Avalon Drive Residents Report Tire Thefts To Wilmington Police

The thefts of tires and rims are similar to recent thefts in other area towns, according to Wilmington Police.

WILMINGTON, MA -- thieves stole tires and rims off of cars parked on Avalon Drive early Wednesday morning, according to the Wilmington Police Department log. The first call came at 7:30 when a man called to say that the windows on his roommate's car had been broken and the tires had been removed. The vehicle also appeared to have been rummaged through.

Police responded to two more reports of vehicle break-ins on Avalon Drive Wednesday morning. In both cases the rims had been removed from the vehicles and the vehicles had been left propped up on three wheels. Detective Brian Pupa of the Wilmington Police said the thefts were similar to thefts that have been reported in other area towns in recent days, including Wakefield, Stoneham and Billerica.

"In a cases like this we certainly encourage residents who see suspicious activity to contact the Police Department," Pupa said.
