State Police To Charge 3 For Throwing Rocks At Cars On Route 3

State police said they would issue summons for a Wilmington 19-year-old, a Billerica 17-year-old and a Burlington 17-year-old.

BILLERICA, MA — State police were planning to issue summons for three people, on charges related to throwing rocks at cars, they said Monday. They identified a Wilmington 19-year-old, a Billerica 17-year-old and a Burlington 17-year-old who they believe threw rocks Sunday. Police responded to reports of rocks hitting two cars on Route 3 in Billerica.

State Police Troopers began investigating at 8:12 p.m. Sunday, when a driver reported to police that a rock hit the windshield of his commercial vehicle, "apparently thrown from the side of Route 3 northbound in Billerica near Exit 27." Flying glass from the windshield caused minor injuries and the driver as taken to Lahey Clinic.

Another driver then reported that his vehicle was also hit by a rock, apparently trhwon from the same area. The second driver was not injured.

Troopers found the three suspects in the area where the rocks were thrown.

"Subsequent investigation revealed probable cause to believe that the three were responsible for throwing rocks at passing cars," the release concludes. "No further information is currently available."
