Two Arrested After Early Morning Wilmington Crash
The suspects fled the vehicle on foot, but were found with help from Andover and State Police K9 units.

WILMINGTON, MA -- Police arrested two people who fled the scene of an accident at 3 am Thursday morning on Ballardville Street in Wilmington. Police charged Ashley Jones, 27, of Lawrence with OUI (liquor), negligent operation of a motor vehicle, and leaving the scene of a property damage crash. Her passenger, Jesse Meharg, 28, of North Andover, was charged with possession of a class C substance.
Police responded to a report of a car rear-ending a tractor trailer in the 200 block of Ballardville Street. When police arrived, Jones and Meharg fled on foot, according to Wilmington Police. Police searched the area with the help of K9 units from the Andover and Massachusetts State Police Departments and arrested the two on Andover Street near the Andover town line.
It wasn't Meharg's first run-in with police. In 2012 he was arrested with four other men for a masked armed robbery of two people at a home in Freetown. And in November, 2016, Peabody Police arrested Meharg and charged him with disturbing the peace, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and strangulation or suffocation with serious bodily harm
