As Much as I love to be in Wilmington on the 4th of July,I had a chance this year to view a time honored and moving event on Boston Harbor.
The annual turn around cruise and salute to the nation by the USS Constitution. So yesterday morning I boarded the harbor cruise vessel, and went out to the harbor to wait for the ceremonies to begin.
The Constitution came out of her birth undertow , proceed and followed by Fire boats with red, white, and blue water shooting from the water cannons. The Constitutions, mast decked out with signal flags, and flying the National colors from 1815 sailed majestically up the harbor past the Boston Skyline to castle Island, and here the oldest commissioned navel vessel in the world fired off a 21 gun salute to the nation, then received a 21 gun salute back from the shore. She they completed her turn around sailed back down the harbor , slowing to give a 17 gun salute to the U.S Coast Guard. she then returned to her Birth at the Charles town navy yard.
