VIDEO: Boys and Girls Soccer Need Penalty Kicks to Advance

Both the Wilmington boys and girls soccer teams were forced into penalty kicks during the North Division 2 quarterfinals, and each came away with a win.

Editor's Note: The boys and girls soccer games scheduled for Friday night have been rescheduled.

Because the Division 1 games were moved due to Thursday, the Division 2 games were also changed. The Wilmington boys soccer team will take on North Andover at 3 p.m. before the girls battle Hamilton-Wenham immediately following that tilt.

Both the boys and girls teams needed penalty kicks to advance on Tuesday night, and each was up to the challenge.

Steve Scanlon's boys team played a scoreless regulation and two overtime periods before coming away with a sudden death penalty kick win. Sue Hendee's Lady Wildcats were tied at 1-1 after regulation and double overtime. Though they fell behind in penalty kicks, the team bounced back to win.
