VIDEO: Travis Roy Inspires Wilmington Students

Former Boston University hockey player leads WHS assembly.

Friday wasn't the typical school day for Wilmington High School students. That's because there was a very special guest on Friday morning.

Motivational speaker Travis Roy spoke about his experience as a paraplegic during an assembly.

When he was growing up, Roy dreamed of earning a scholarship with a Division 1 hockey program, a goal he accomplished when he signed on to play at Boston University.

But during his first ever shift on the Terriers' third line, Roy was paralyzed when he fell akwardly into the corner boards. Now, he shares his stories and the values that have helped him make a successful life despite the setback he suffered as a college freshman.
