Violent Crime Crime Rose 16% In Wilmington Between 2015 And 2016, According To FBI Data

On the upside, reported property crimes fell 3.31% in Wilmington last year.

WILMINGTON, MA -- Violent crime rose by nearly 16% in Wilmington between 2015 and 2016, according to uniform crime reporting data released by the Federal Bureau of Investigation earlier this month. The increase includes five reported rapes in 2016, up from one in 2015, and a 26.67% increase in reports of aggravated assault.

The FBI has been collecting Uniform Crime Reporting data from law enforcement agencies across the United States since 1930. The data is used to gain offer a comparison from year to year and community to community in a wide range of violent and property crimes.
