Water Main Project Means Keep A Gallon On Hand, Watch For Traffic Directions

A major water main installation project in Wilmington could take about a month to complete. We've got your details here.

WILMINGTON, MA — A 12-inch cement-lined ductile iron water main will be installed in Middlesex Avenue from Federal Street to the vicinity of 205 Middlesex Avenue, approximately 1,570 linear feet, the Town announced Thursday. The project will connect the 12-inch at the Federal Street intersection to the 12-inch water main that came in as part of the Glen Road traffic improvement project. An additional fire hydrant will be also added be added.

Why should you care? Well the installation, which will be done by the Cedrone Corporation, begins Monday, June 19 and take about a month. The hours will be between 7 a.m.-4 p.m. The road will be open, but police will be directing traffic. Water service may be disrupted, though warnings will be given when possible. It is still suggested you have a gallon of water on hand during the work.
