Water Main Update Project Announced for Strout Avenue

WILMINGTON, MA — The water main on Strout Avenue will be receiving an upgrade during the week of Aug. 22, according to an announcement from the Town of Wilmington on Tuesday. The town announced that the Department of Public Works Water Division will begin upgrading the main in the area of house No. 10 to the dead end of the road.

The existing 2-inch pipe will be replaced with 8-inch ductile iron, and the water division will be adding a fire hydrant to the area.

Work is set to begin at 8 a.m., and the town estimates that the work will take approximately 2 to 3 weeks. Individual water services will be transferred to the new main approximately one week later.

Residents are asked not to park on the street during the construction, and may experience discoloration and low water pressure. Residents will be notified if water services will be temporarily interrupted.

Since difficulties can occur and water service could be unexpectedly disrupted, we suggest residents keep a gallon of water in the refrigerator, according to the announcement.
