Wildcats Get Back to Work

Wilmington High School athletics teams prepare for spring sports season with Monday tryouts.

Sunday was the first day of spring, and Monday spring sports get into full swing with the first day of tryouts.

Though locations are scheduled for change due to field conditions, here is a look at the slate for teams. All scheduled tryouts and practices are courtesy of Highschoolsports.net.

  • Boys varsity spring track practice is scheduled for 2:15 p.m. at the high school track.
  • The Girls varsity track team is on the docket for the same time and location.
  • Players interested in joining the boys varsity tennis team can show off their skills at Textron beginning at 2:30 p.m.
  • Girls varsity tennis hopefuls can also try out at the same time Monday afternoon.
  • At the high school, boys baseball players take their first hacks of the season. Though the baseball field is likely unplayable still, there is a batting cage to help hitters get in midseason form. Tryouts are at 3 p.m.
  • Interested boys lacrosse players will take to the parking lot at the high school. At 3 p.m. the lacrosse team holds its first tryout.
  • Also at the school is the girls lacrosse tryout, which starts at 3 p.m.
  • Finally, the Lady Wildcat softball team hosts its initial tryout on Monday at 6 p.m.

The first game of the year for WHS is scheduled for Monday, April 4, when the softball team travels to Tewksbury to take on the Redmen at 3:45 p.m.
