Wildcats Look to Start 2012 On a Winning Note

Previewing the week ahead for Wilmington High School teams.

It was a successful vacation week for Wilmington High School teams, and the Wildcats hope to continue that success into 2012.

The team earned a victory over Littleton to clinch a win in its holiday tournament, and the girls team piled up wins during a tournament in Florida before eventually settling for second place with a loss in the finals.

On Monday, the boys and girls track teams look to build on as they travel to Melrose for a meet beginning at 4 p.m.

Then on Tuesday, Wilmington hosts a basketball doubleheader. First off at 5:30 p.m., the girls team hits the court against Stoneham. Joseph Maiella's boys team tips off against the same opponent beginning at 7 p.m.

A pair of Wildcat teams host action on Wednesday. The wrestling team welcomes Winchester to town at 6:30 p.m. Then at 7 p.m., the 2-2-2 boys hockey team faces off against Stoneham at . Puck drops at 8 p.m.

The basketball squads team up for another doubleheader on Friday. The girls play at 5:30 p.m. against Watertown, followed by a boys tilt against Watertown at 7 p.m.

Finally, on Saturday is a hockey double feature. The girls team plays at noon against Watertown, while the same schools play a boys game at 2:30 p.m. Both tilts are held at Ristuccia Arena.
